GAME Plan

For this blog I needed to choose standards from the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS-T) and performance indicators for teachers. These standards will make up a plan for myself for integrating technology in my future classroom.

The first aspect of my plan that I want to implement is learning more about different kinds of technology that are available to me in my classroom. I want to learn the uses of these technologies and the best ways to implement them. I also think it would be useful to learn about specific lessons that I could use in my grade level.

This goal co insides with standard number three, which states that teachers should be able to model digital-age work and learning. This would include being fluent in different kinds of technologies and being able to implement them by sharing what you know with students, peers and other members of the community. Being able to model different technologies would show myself and others that I am proficient in integrating technology in the classroom.

The second goal that I would like to meet is goal number one which is inspiring students to become creative learners using technologies. I think that this would be the big overall goal that I would have because if my students can be successful using technology that I have implemented in my lessons, that is the ultimate goal. Students will be able to bring what they have learned in my classroom into the real world using technologies I have shown them. Students will also be excited to learn because they will be interested and engaged in the technology they are using.

The action that I will take in order to meet these goals is to successfully complete my Master's degree at Walden University in Integrating Technology in the Classroom. I feel that if I can complete all of my courses to the best of my ability I will learn more than enough to reach my goals. I can monitor my progress through my grades, being monitored in my classroom by colleagues and see how well my students are responding to my technology integration. Although there will be a time when I will graduate from Walden University I will always continue to better myself through education in various ways.

  1. With the technology abilities that our students have it is very important to become fluent with different kinds of technology. If we as teachers are fluent we can use it to intrigue our students. With this we can cover our content using technology students are comfortable with and enjoy. I feel that your goals are very important to the overall success of our students now and in their futures.

Completing your Master's degree is a great starting point. I do like how you will monitor your progress by being observed by colleagues. We can learn a lot from each other as long as we work together!

  2. Keeping an open mind on the types of technology you would like to use in your classroom is key. Also, keeping yourself up to date on the latest forms of technology will help you keep your lessons up to date. I myself go out and look for new and exciting things to do with my students. It keeps them excited about learning and also keeps me on my toes.

I also like how you said that the skills your students learn from you will be to help them lead successful lives.

You have a good plan set up. Good luck and I hope you are able to accomplish your goals.

  3. I like that you say your students will be able to use what they learn from you about technology in the real world. I think that is a goal we all can strive for.

  4. Thanks for the comments! I agree that keeping an open mind with all types of technology is important. If I rule anything out without using it, I could be passing up some useful information and activities for my students. I want to use technology in a way that when students are finished with using it, they could possibly find a way to use it in a way to help themselves in other ways. This way students always are continuing to have more resources for learning.
